Manufacturing PMI reports are important indicators for investors since they show countries’ current trends for manufacturing activity.
In this series, we’ll take a look at the February manufacturing PMI reports of some major developed nations, including the United States, France, Germany, Spain, Japan, and the United Kingdom. In February 2018, major markets around the globe were showing some nervousness. The expectation of an aggressive rate hike by the Fed and the expectation of a slowdown in global growth seemed to affect investor sentiment in February.
Major developed market indexes such as the S&P 500 Index, the FTSE 100 Index, the CAC 40 Index, and the DAX Index fell 3.8%, 4%, 3%, and 5.7%, respectively, in February 2018. We’ll also analyze the performance of the ADP employment report for February 2018.
