In the first week of January 2018, Microsoft (MSFT) announced the acquisition of Avere Systems, which provides caching and file storage services in private data centers as well as the public cloud. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Avere uses a mix of caching technologies and file systems to meet the performance requirements of companies and organizations that run extensive computing workloads. Its technology enables enterprises to migrate their mission-critical, high-performance applications and workloads to the cloud.
Avere’s technologies are used in various industries, from life sciences, oil and gas, education, technology, financial services, and manufacturing to any industries that could benefit from efficient use of HPC (high-performance computing) and storage resources.
